First day of class after a a free weekend; this Monday was definitely a bit of a slap in the face to remind us we actually have things to learn and lecture to attend. We all had somewhat adventurous weekends in our own ways and needed a day of rest in between the weekend and Monday. But we should be so fortunate. Instead, the usual running crew, which is about 5-7 of us in our own pairs, were all up and out by 7:30 am to get our daily run in.

Math lecture in the morning was the same as usual but in the afternoon we had a guest lecture by Mik Laczkovich about Egyptian Mathematics. We learned their notation and particularly focused on their representation of fractions. After the lecture, the majority of the class took a random trip to a place we knew practically nothing about called "Chocolate World." Well, despite the store being closed when we arrived, it was basically over-priced chocolate packed into a candy shop. As always though, everything is worth checking out because you never until you try it.

One thing that most of us would agree we are ready to have changed is the attitude of the waiters in restaurants. It is true that it is technically not in their job descriptions to smile and be friendly, but there is a noticeable difference with most wait staff (not all) towards our tables as opposed to non-tourists. They just don't seem too keen to serve people who aren't exactly accustomed to their dinner etiquette or the language. We try our best to be as polite as possible, but even the English speakers aren't that keen on serving us. I guess we're getting a little homesick for good 'ol fashion aMurhican wait style where the customer is always right.

Well it is getting late for the 6:45 run in the morning so I will sign off saying we miss America, it wins the contest any day for beauty and style.
