Buda Buda Buda....

We started another day with another session of number theory. After the usual session of proofs we spent the afternoon watching a documentary about Paul Erdos, a famous Hungarian mathematician. He was involved in more mathematics papers than any other person in history. As is usually the case with geniuses he was quite the character who thought of life as a game between himself and SF, the supreme fascist. What does this mean? Nobody really knows except for Erdos.

After the film some of us took the metro to the Fisherman's Bastion and Matthias Church. This trip offered a great opportunity to take some pictures of the city on one of the few sunny days we've experienced here in Budapest. Built around 1900, the seven towers of the Fishermen's

Bastion represent the seven different Magyar tribes that settled the Budapest area, know as the Carpathian Basin. Matthias Church stands directly behind the Fishermen's Bastion and dates all the way back to 1015. The intricate spire and pattern tile roof were quite an impressive sight.

Tonight some of us went out to Ruben's, a restaurant we discovered on our way to watch the documentary this afternoon. The food was quite delicious and had "inexplicably low prices" according to our guide magazine called Time Out. Ruben's lived up to its reputation offering dishes that ranged from the traditional Hungarian Goulash soup to roasted rabbit with dumplings. Hopefully it will be an early night seeing as we have to leave the hotel at the crack of dawn to visit a town in southern Hungary called Pecs. Merry BDPT everyone, Egeszsegedre!
